The IJP Tennis program launched in 2016. The genesis of the program was coaching competitive junior tennis players under the Red-Orange-Green development pathway, which was commonplace in Europe and the rest of the world, but still novel (and mostly absent) in the US.
We are taking the opportunity of the annual schedule change that comes with the high school season, and the occasion of our 10-year anniversary, to make some thoughtful changes and refocus our coaching efforts. We are going back to our roots and focusing on the phase of the sport that has always been the foundation of our work and mission: Red, Orange, and Green Ball development. These stages of tennis are where IJP made its start and where we do our very best work—building strong fundamentals, confidence, sportsmanship, and a genuine love of the game. It is also where players develop the skills, routines, and discipline that are needed in competitive tennis, and in life. As part of this refocusing, we will transition away from our Yellow Ball groups. While we will certainly miss working with our older Yellow Ballers, this change will allow us to concentrate our time, energy, and expertise on what we believe matters most and, importantly, where we can have the greatest impact. As IJP Tennis approaches its 10th anniversary this year, we are excited to double-down on the areas of junior tennis about which we are most passionate, and concentrate on the Red-Orange-Green program in which we believe so deeply. Thanks to all of you, the community that has allowed us, over the past decade, to introduce young people to the sport that we love. |
